Classification and selection of centrifuge tubes

1.Plastic centrifuge tube
Plastic centrifuge tubes have the advantages of being transparent or translucent, their hardness is small, and gradients can be removed by puncture. Disadvantages are easy deformation, poor resistance to organic solvents and short service life.
The plastic centrifuge tube has a cap, which is used to prevent the leakage of the sample, especially when it is used for radioactive or highly corrosive samples. It is important to prevent the sample from leaking. And support the centrifuge tube to prevent deformation of the centrifuge tube. When selecting this point, also pay attention to check the tightness of the tube cap and whether it can be tightly closed during the test so as to prevent the liquid from leaking upside down;
We all know that in plastic centrifuge tubes, commonly used materials are polyethylene (PE), polycarbonate (PC), polypropylene (PP), etc. Among them, polypropylene PP tube performance will be relatively good, so we are choosing plastic centrifuge Whenever possible, consider polypropylene plastic centrifuge tubes.

2.Glass centrifuge tube
When using glass tubes, the centrifugal force should not be too large. Rubber pads are required to prevent the tubes from being broken. High-speed centrifuges generally do not use glass tubes. The lid of the centrifuge tube is not tight enough, and the liquid cannot be filled (for high-speed centrifuges and angle rotors) to prevent overflow and loss of balance. The result of the spill is contamination of the rotor and the centrifugal cavity, which affects the normal operation of the sensor. During ultracentrifugation, the liquid must be filled in the centrifuge tube, because high vacuum is required for ultra-ionization, and the tube cannot be deformed unless it is filled.

3.Steel centrifuge tube
The steel centrifuge tube is strong, non-deformable, heat-resistant, freeze-resistant, and chemical-resistant. It is also widely used, but it should also avoid contact with strong corrosive chemicals such as strong acids and alkalis. Try to avoid the corrosion of these chemicals.
