The centrifugal rotor is the core component of the centrifuge. All systems in the centrifuge are configured to ensure that the rotor runs safely under certain conditions. The rotor not only directly affects the separation effect, it is also the main force component in centrifuge technology, which is extremely important to the safety of the centrifuge. For a long time, the rotor has been the focus of research by centrifuge and centrifuge technology researchers.
Simply put, the centrifuge can be divided into two parts: the main unit and the detachable rotor (rotating head). A multi-functional host can usually be equipped with multiple rotors, and different types of rotors can meet different needs to achieve its "multi-function" "This can effectively reduce the purchase cost, but you need to pay attention to the choice when purchasing, the centrifuge is easy to disassemble the centrifuge.
Generally, the centrifuge rotor and the main shaft are directly matched. In order to reduce noise, manufacturers often make the degree of cooperation between the main engine and the rotor quite high. However, the biggest disadvantage is that the rotor is easy to bite with the main shaft and it is inconvenient to disassemble. There is also a strong directivity in the motor's cooperation mode. When the rotor direction is offset from the motor's main shaft, it will cause greater noise and affect the service life of the machine. In severe cases, the main shaft will break and the rotor will explode.
The most commonly used rotors include fixed-angle rotors and horizontal rotors. The more homogeneous the rotor, the more complete it is, so the choice of rotor is usually based on the capacity of the commonly used samples and the conditions of centrifugation, usually a horizontal rotor and an angular rotor, a large capacity (relatively low speed) rotor and a small capacity high speed One rotor each, and then select other rotors according to different needs in the work.
The centrifugal tube in the angle rotor can maintain a fixed angle of centrifugation. A higher speed can be used. After centrifugation, the sediment is located on the inclined surface of the bottom of the tube. Larger-capacity rotors can usually be equipped with different "adaptor" to "fix" small-capacity sample tubes. For example, a 6 x 85ml rotor can hold 85ml centrifuge tubes or 50ml or 15-20ml centrifuge tubes. Achieve multiple uses of one thing; but due to the weight, the maximum speed of the large-capacity rotor is relatively small, so it is necessary to consider whether the maximum centrifugal force can meet the experimental requirements. Because the highest speed rotor is usually a rotor suitable for 2ml centrifuge tubes, sometimes the price of a rotor can almost buy an additional small centrifuge, which can also reduce the loss of expensive equipment. Some small desktop high-speed centrifuges also provide fixed-angle rotors of different sizes (in conjunction with 0.5ml and 2ml / 1.5ml centrifuge tubes, in fact, unless the 0.5ml centrifuge tube is often fixed and the volume of each sample is relatively large , Generally choose a 2ml / 1.5ml rotor, with an adapter (with adapters suitable for 0.2ml, 0.4ml, 0.5ml tubes) can meet the needs. If the commonly used PCR strip tube also consider the configuration of an 8-tube tube rotor is more convenient .
The horizontal rotor is equipped with 2 or 4 hanging baskets, which are hung vertically on the rotor when stationary. The hanging baskets have different adapters to meet the needs of centrifuge tubes of different capacities. When the rotor speed exceeds 600 rpm, the centrifuge tube reaches the horizontal position, and the sample sedimentation direction moves along the axial direction of the centrifuge tube, and finally settles at the bottom of the tube for easy collection. Because it is not as stable as the fixed-angle rotor, the maximum rotation speed of the horizontal gondola is much lower than that of the fixed-angle rotor, which is limited to the range of low-speed centrifugation. There are different adapters in the hanging basket, which can place various types of centrifuge tubes, and even meet the needs of plate centrifugation.
